Norwalk Mayor Dick Moccia revealed Thursday suspected prostitution rings hidden behind innocent store fronts have been busted in recent months.Moccia spoke with the Republican candidate for state senator, Fred Wilms at a news conference at City Hall. They announced several businesses, posing as health spas, where arrests have been made. One of the health spas was Nirvana Relaxation Center on Main Street. Police say they raided the spa in early October, charging two women with prostitution and the men inside with soliciting a prostitute. Norwalk police say they also raided two other spas in recent months, Crystal Spa on West Avenue and Liberty Spa on Westport Avenue.Months after arrests were made at Liberty Spa, the doors are now locked and the building appears to be abandoned. Moccia wants to make sure the doors remain closed. He hopes to do that with the help of Wilms, who says a proposal to allow individual cities to initiate action could permanently close illegal facilities.
