Milford police say a suspicious device found behind a building Thursday morning was not dangerous.
Police say it happened at 57 New Haven Ave.
Officials said there was no threat to the general public, but people were asked to avoid the area.
Shipyard Lane was closed during the investigation.
Police say they protected the area while the Connecticut State Police Bomb Squad inspected the device.
The bomb squad deemed the device to be safe and was removed.
The area has since reopened.
