Fairfield police are on the lookout for the driver of a van that knocked out a fuel pump at the Kings Highway East Cumberland Farms Friday morning.
Police say the driver sped off before officials could arrive. According to witnesses, the driver hit the pump while trying to back the van in.
Between 15 and 20 gallons of fuel spilled into the roadway and storm drains, says Fairfield Sgt. Jim Perez. Environmental Protection Agency workers were called in to pump out the drains and clean the pavement.
