A popular pond in Wilton is temporarily closed to swimmers while the water is being tested for safety amid bacterial infection concerns.
On Friday, a young man and his mother reported a serous rash that sent him to the emergency room.
The water at the pond is tested weekly. That usually happens on Wednesdays, so officials decided to test it again, as a precaution.
Regular swimmers wonder if maybe something was washed into the pond following Tropical Storm Elsa. The pond was open over the weekend, but there were not any other reactions reported.
In the meantime, the pond remains closed to the public, while officials make sure there is no cause for concern.
