Today, the Connecticut Department of Transportation will conduct its first in-person public hearing in New Haven regarding proposed changes to Metro-North lines.
A second in-person hearing is scheduled for tomorrow in Hartford.
The DOT intends to implement fare increases and service reductions on the New Haven, New Canaan and Danbury lines.
State lawmakers have expressed dissatisfaction with the DOT's decision not to hold a public hearing in Fairfield County.
They argue that the majority of rail commuters reside in and utilize services in shoreline communities such as Bridgeport, Westport, Norwalk, Stamford, and Greenwich.
