A push to strengthen Connecticut's laws on sex offenders will get a big boost Monday from famed forensics expert Dr. Henry Lee.
Dr. Lee will join House Speaker Jim Amann (D-Milford) before a legislative hearing at the state capitol. Amann introduced legislation in January that would toughen Megan's Law. It gives communities authority to publicly post personal information of high-risk sex offenders. Lee is expected to testify about Amman's push to add more crime scene details to the offender registry.
Amann also wants to create risk assessment teams to identify sex offenders. The goal is to better identify how much of a threat the offender is to the public. The bill would also require sex offenders to register before they leave prison.
