Back-to-school means people are heading into stores to prepare for the upcoming year, which can get expensive.
Caleb Silver, of Investopedia, tells News 12 it's not just notebooks and pencils that add up, but everything else kids need.
"You are looking at around $800, $900 just in those extra accessories to get your kid ready for school. We are talking about electronics over $300. Maybe it's a new computer or maybe it is a calculator. With clothing and accessories, if you want to wear the fresh pair of jeans on the first day of school, it will cost you $250 if you are resetting the wardrobe," says Silver.
Silver says because inflation is starting to subdue, costs are leveling out.
