House Democrats met Wednesday to determine if Governor Jodi Rell's (R-CT) chief of staff committed perjury during a legislative hearing into ethics violations.
Lisa Moody, has been under scrutiny for handing out invitations to a Rell fundraiser from her Capitol office, which was in violation of an ethics memo sent out in December 2005. In May, Moody told lawyers she never read a memo on state ethic rules. However, a copy of the memo with her handwriting on it was found. Moody's lawyer says his client did not deny she had seen the memo, but was unaware of its contents.
Democratic lawmakers are expected to decide whether to seek a criminal investigation into Moody's actions. Senate President Don Williams is suggesting Moody resign or be fired.
