Bridgeport's new Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater hosted its very
first concert ever Wednesday night.
REO Speedwagon and Styx will kicked off the first of many shows at
7:30 p.m.
News 12 is told over 6,000 people were set to attend the
double-band concert.
Attendees say expressed excitement at getting back out in a crowd
to enjoy live music.
Scott of Family Electric in Bridgeport says his team joined with
Woodmere Electric to make it all possible beginning nearly three years
ago.
COVID delayed the amphitheater's opening by about a year and
graduating college students from around the area were able to walk across the
stage recently.
The venue served as vaccine clinic, too.
Mayor Joe Ganim says the hope is that the amphitheater will help
build up Bridgeport.
With the Webster Bank Arena right next door to the amphitheater,
officials say the goal is to make the Park City the music capital of the
region.
