Rep. Jim Himes provided his first comments on Thursday following the dramatic vote that ousted Rep. Kevin McCarthy as House speaker earlier this week.

Hines in a statement said, “Now we are in a situation of chaos, and it's really challenging and difficult because there's problems out there that we need to be legislating, on climate change, we need to be moving on Ukraine, we need to be moving on the border issues that are still compromising communities in the southwest and elsewhere, so my hope is that the republicans get their act together early next week."

The voting to vacate the speakership has left the House leadership up in the air.
