A Ridgefield man has created an app to simplify the process of buying home heating oil.

Steve Williams founded FuelSnap, an online marketplace catering to home heating oil customers.

A centerpiece of the app is the "The Smart Oil Guage," which allows you to keep track of how much heating oil you have in your tank.

The system sends out email and text alerts to let you know when it's time to buy more oil.
