Riverhead man charged in Montauk sexual assault case
Police said the incident occurred on Sunday, when the victim was asleep at a Montauk home

A Riverhead man has been arrested and charged in connection with a sexual assault at a Montauk residence, East Hampton Town Police said.
The victim was asleep Sunday afternoon when the suspect entered the victim’s room without permission and carried out the assault, police said. The suspect had been visiting the victim’s roommate at the time.
Police were notified shortly after the attack and responded to the scene.
Maurilio Cardona Trujillo, 29, of Riverhead, has been charged with one count of first-degree rape.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing and are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact the East Hampton Town Police Department at 631-537-7575.
