Drivers face delays and confusion in Rockland County as President Trump's visit is bringing traffic changes in Suffern.

Lines of cars stretched along College Road throughout the morning near Rockland Community College.

Police said the College Road entrance, which was expected to stay open until noon, was shut down entirely at the request of the Secret Service.

That forced drivers to turn around and head to the Viola Road entrance instead.

Many had lined up as early as 6 a.m. and were seen rolling down windows asking for directions.

Officials had already closed the campus until 10 a.m., then directed all incoming traffic to Viola Road once it reopened.

Police say College Road is now closed between Viola Road and Carlton Road. There is also no parking allowed on Viola Road, College Road or Spook Rock Road.

A large law enforcement presence remains on scene, including state police, Ramapo police and the sheriff's office.
Traffic cones and metal fencing have been set up near the college gym where the event is taking place.

Despite the delays, some attendees said traffic appeared to be under control.

"Traffic is, so far, they look like they have it very much controlled," said Carolyn Didonato of Pearl River.

Local school districts, including East Ramapo and Clarkstown, also had early dismissals tied to the visit and the holiday weekend.
