According to 311 records, residents in the Bronx and the city complain most about rodents, noise and sewer problems.
City officials are keeping track of complaints and how they are resolved. The records show that rats and other rodents are a top complaint. The Department of Mental Health and Hygiene took an average of 20 days to respond last month. If residents called about a strange odor, 91 percent of the time the Department of Environmental Conservation came to inspect it. The records also show that housing complaints were not quickly resolved. However, the Department of Buildings says it responds to the most critical problems first, while delaying those that are not urgent. The Department of Transportation had the best record with 92 percent of calls resolved in two to eight days.
