Wilton fire crews responded to a roof fire on Danbury Road on Monday.
It happened in the vacant building that used to be Boston Market, which is currently undergoing renovations.
Workers were on the roof at the time of the fire but were able to get down using their own ladder before the fire department arrived.
Fire crews found smoke coming from a rooftop heating and ventilation unit.
Wilton fire called in mutual aid from surrounding towns.
The fire was put out quickly, and damage was mainly limited to the heating unit.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
