Connecticut federal lawmakers are reacting to Thursday’s shooting in a Maryland newsroom which left five people dead.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal says now is the time for Congress to take action on gun reform. He says lawmakers have been complicit when it comes to mass shootings, and now they've come to the newsrooms of America.

Blumenthal says free press requires a sense of security, and now that protection has been shattered.
Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty also reacted to the shooting through a tweet.

"Journalists should not have to worry about being shot in their newsroom any more than children should have to worry about being shot in their classroom. All lives are precious. The madness must stop," Congresswoman Etsy said in her tweet.
Meanwhile, Gazette reporters said they were determined to put out a paper this morning and they did. They said they would not let the shooting deter them from doing their jobs.
