Sen. Richard Blumenthal is calling for the country to come together in the wake of the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

"Political violence is absolutely unacceptable. My heart goes out to everyone who was harmed by this assassination attempt," Blumenthal said.

He also expressed gratitude for the quick response by law enforcement authorities and said the country needs to unite as one to denounce violence.
