Sen. Richard Blumenthal is pushing for bipartisan legislation to close a loophole that he says has allowed natural gas pipeline companies to overcharge customers for decades.
He wants to propose a bill that would give rebates to customers being overcharged on natural gas.
"This legislation is vital to the people of Connecticut who are overcharged routinely by millions of dollars, in total, by the natural gas pipeline operators and right now, no recourse, no rebates, no refunds,” said Blumenthal.
He said the measure would help reduce future excessive energy rates for consumers.
“This situation is intolerable and that's why I'm going to fight for legislation to put money back in their pockets,” said Blumenthal.
