Sen. Richard Blumenthal is among lawmakers across the country calling on the maker of the lifesaving drug EpiPen to make the drug more affordable.
Drugmaker Mylan announced yesterday that it was expanding programs that make the drug cheaper for some. The announcement was made after a group of lawmakers urged the Federal Trade Commission to investigate the company over a series of price hikes made over the past decade.
Blumenthal is one of the members of Congress outraged by the spike in prices. He called the company's plan to expand affordability programs a publicity stunt and morally wrong.
The CEO of Mylan, who happens to be the daughter of U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, has said dropping the price is not an option.
Blumenthal and other lawmakers, including Sen. Manchin, are calling for a congressional investigation into the pricing.
