It's been three days without power for most people living in Harvest Commons in Westport, and estimates put full restoration another four days out.
Many in the complex are senior citizens with chronic health conditions.
Peter Reiss told News 12 that he has been taking care of his wife who has had Alzheimer’s disease for the last 12 years.
“She’s in the last stage,” said Reiss. “It's been extremely difficult taking care of her, let alone myself.”
Some have been afraid to check into a hotel because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Friday afternoon, Eversource employees made their way onsite to evaluate the situation, but there were few answers or assurances.
“I’m shocked at the fact that it took them over two days to get people to come assess the situation,” said Lois Gans Kemp, whose parents live in the community.
For now, people living at Harvest Commons are waiting and hoping that someone hears their pleas and can step in.
“They should know what homes or condos that have older people, so they give priority to people that have a difficult time as it is, let alone with this added burden on them,” said Reiss.
