Crime files continues this week with a look behind the crime tape at one of the tri state most gruesome murder for higher plots that left a famous hotel. He dead news, 12 senior investigative reporter to Rosenbloom brings us the details never shared before in the murder of Ben Novak junior and his mother, Bernice. If the facts of this case were proposed as a movie, I think it would be rejected by Hollywood for being too far fetched. A millionaire playboy, Ben had everything at his beck and call his whole life, his trophy wife, the former stripper. She was a beautiful woman. But why would anyone want the heir to Miami's legendary Falcon hotel dead? It was a Sunday. I got a call from work. He had been a homicide at the helm. When the detectives arrived, they found Ben Novak junior bound, tortured and beaten to a bloody pulp inside his hotel room. They beat him so bad when they opened the chest cavity, his ribs look like chicken bones broken into his organs. It was a vicious, vicious attack. It was a far cry from what anyone expected when Novak, his wife, Narsi and stepdaughter may boarded the plane to New York from Florida two days earlier, but a darker, a more sinister version of events would soon emerge. Ultimately landing Narc Novak behind bars to find out what she said. And the unexpected moments during her sensational months long murder trial. Join me for crime files, Tuesday night. Talking about what this first weekend of December technically, well, not technically winter but kind of winter is going to be like rich. Yes, in the weather world it is the beginning of winter. Meteorological winter starts today and we're going to be warming things up. Today will be the warmest day of the week for our Monday through Friday time frame. Now starting off this morning, still that bit of a chill, but we have dry weather conditions you can see right now. 30 seven Hempstead, 37 in Valley Stream, 40 in Medford, 45 Bridge Hampton already 49 degrees in Montauk. You're gonna notice a different feel to the air for today. Starting off with sunshine and clouds during our midday. If you're gonna be around Jericho, today, temperatures will be in the lower fifties and then towards 567 o'clock, here comes some of that wet weather. So if you have the evening plans be prepared for some scattered showers is developing and it was uh temperatures again, they're cold right now and you can see the wet weather developing out to the west. This is approaching Long Island morning sunshine, then the clouds and the rain showers developing between about five and 7 p.m. And again, as we go through this evening, here's some of that wet weather. Around eight o'clock tonight, the showers are coming on through and that will be with us through about 10 p.m. And then right now your Saturday is more dry track rain for your Sunday. Again, highs today in the fifties morning, sunshine, afternoon clouds showers after four pm, sun goes down. Now at 425 lows are in the forties, showers through midnight and then some drizzle and fog through Saturday morning, mainly dry Saturday rain on Sunday, especially in the afternoon, drier weather coming in as we go towards next week. And right now Hanukkah, the start of that looks dry with temperatures in the forties.

Thanks for joining us here on mornings on news 12 on a Friday, December 1st. I'm m mad and I'm Simon Choudry. So we've been talking about the rain. Will it affect our weekend plans? Let's check in with storm watch team. Meteorologist, Alex Calam. Not a bad start to December temperature wise though. Now it's true. It is cold out there this morning in the mid twenties for North Jersey, interior parts of the state only in the twenties, but we are all warming up very quickly. I want to take you to one of the cooler spots. Somerset County is sitting in the mid twenties right now. At Best Rocky Hill is 30. So you definitely need to jack it early but you don't get by mid morning, at least not the heavy jacket. You're sitting in the mid forties. The wind is very calm today but clouds are building and we have a chance for rain. It is after all the first day of December and on average temperatures are right around 49. So this is just about right for this time of the year. But by the end of the month, we go down to 41 for your average morning temperature on average by the end of the month, 28. And yeah, December typically is when we see our first snow of the season last year though. We didn't see our first inch of snow until February this weekend. We're just talking plain old rain and there could be plenty of it on Sunday. Saturday looks dry and cloudy and mild coming up. We'll show you what those numbers look like. Alex. What's going on inside there, who need to know? All right, but what's going on in the weather department? We have rain. I mean, there, office parties tonight, right? So you will want the umbrellas heading out and about for evening plans. Best chance is going to be during the evening commute between three and eight. You can see pretty much how a lot of us start to see the rain after three or four. Best chance is going to be around six or seven. So you'll have to tap those windshield wipers a little bit, but it quickly ramps off by eight or nine o'clock. We're more or less dry and the rest of the evening looks fine. It just got to have the umbrellas for the early part of the evening, but it's not the only time we're going to see rain this weekend. A little bit of a break expected tomorrow and honestly go outside. Enjoy 60 degrees because we might not see 60 degrees any more in 2023. That's right because of course, things are going to be cooling on down. Enjoy tomorrow because it'll start to rain again on Sunday. It'll also be quite a bit cooler, only lower fifties. So let's take a look at that future cast for Sunday starts off dry. So heading over to let's say church in the morning, you're fine. But by about 11 a.m. we will see a couple of showers moving on in. So by brunch time, you will want to move those brunch and lunch plans inside, it'll become a little bit of a heavier rain into the afternoon. Notice some of the oranges right there over park slope as well as Gowanus down towards Bath Beach. We are going to see quite a bit of rain for the afternoon hours. It's a quick hit though by seven or eight to on Sunday evening, we're pretty much clearing out of the rain and then into Monday morning, maybe a lingering shower is expected. So let's take a look at that 10 day forecast. What you're going to see is again a little bit of a temperature roller coaster up to 60 tomorrow. Then we have that yellow highlight. That means rain is looking likely and it could be a little bit more significant. A little bit left over Monday. Then it gets a lot colder. Take a look by middle of next week. We're looking at middle twenties.

Cats and dogs. They didn't even need to use one of the. Yeah, there you go. All right. Now, let's talk about a little bit more on that. And I heard your transition too, Lisa. It's not raining cats and dogs if you want to go back to that is better. Uh, me too, but we all heard it as we talk about our Friday forecast on this December 1st. Everybody, we're looking at a dry start to the day. Nothing you have to worry about through the morning, commute. Still dark and early sunrise right at seven o'clock on the day. This morning. It is a cold start in spots right now. Close to 40 or so. Not awful for this time of day. This time of the year in Harrison, 3940 in Port Chester to 42 in Yonkers. 29 though north into northern Westchester and Sommers at the moment. 32 in New City, 24 in Middletown. You get it, it's a chilly to even cold start north and west. It's a little bit better feeling closer to the Sound shore ride down. It is completely dry on live Doppler radar. Now, as we widen out the view a little bit though. You'll see some rain already moving through Ohio, West Virginia. This is all going to be heading in our direction, but at a much weaker state by the time it reaches us. So here's how the future cast plays out. Expect increasing clouds through the morning. Temperatures will be in the upper forties to near 50 into the afternoon. Cloudy skies will give way to a few spotty rain showers after around one or two o'clock this afternoon. And you could run into a couple of these light rain showers through about six or seven this evening, but it's not raining during that entire time. These are off and on showers fairly low impact weather, but just be prepared to get wet at times as we go throughout the afternoon and early evening. As we go throughout overnight tonight, mostly cloudy skies, there will be a few breaks of sunshine as we go throughout tomorrow morning, but expect more clouds than sun on Saturday, temperatures actually jump well into the fifties. It will feel quite nice for this time of the year tomorrow. But then we our track some rain moving in for Sunday could even be a spotty showers as early as Saturday evening. But as we go throughout the day on Sunday, during the early morning hours likely, ok. But into the afternoon and evening, we can get a period of some moderate rain across the entire lower Hudson valley, perhaps around a half inch or so of rain. So we want to keep an eye on that today, kind of an eye roll just because the second half of the day goes downhill a little bit but not awful. Not a wash out, just a few spotty showers during the afternoon and early evening. Overnight. Tonight, those showers done with before seven o'clock this evening. Then just mostly cloudy chilly lows in the upper thirties to near 40. Here's the extended, so Sunday, we are keeping an eye on just for some periods of moderate rain. The better half of the weekend, easily tomorrow, mostly cloudy to partly sunny Monday, breezy near 50 but it does turn a bit colder throughout next week, especially for Wednesday and Thursday with highs only around 40 degrees before those temperatures start to come up Friday and into next weekend back in the upper forties to near 50.

Just Alan knows if we got some rain headed our way for this first day of December. Yeah, not a lot, but enough that it's going to cause a little bit of an inconvenience there for the evening commute. Take a look at the exact timing here, hour by hour. You're going to notice that the odds go up after three o'clock. So for that evening commute, 456, you're going to see some of these showers could be that little bit of a steadier burst here 6 to 7 p.m. and then it tails off by nine o'clock. We're pretty much done with the rain. That's good. But then for the weekend, maybe not the best looking weekend, but salvaging Saturday, Saturday, how about 60? I'm pushing up the high because I have a feeling we're going to get a couple of peaks of sunshine and that's going to allow the temperatures to soar enjoy tomorrow outside while you can because the rain returns on Sunday, it will also be cooler. It'll be a little bit on the dreary side. So let's take a look at that Sunday future cast because Saturday, I don't have much to show you because it's going to be dry. It's going to be a mix of sun and clouds for Sunday. However sure it starts off dry at about 7 a.m. But we're going to notice showers moving in from the south and west by the afternoon. Here we go by 11 a.m. Brunch plans move them inside because there will already be showers. This looks to be a little bit steadier of a rain compared to today's rain. Notice already some of the yellows on the feature cast around two o'clock. Then later on into the afternoon, even some orange, around 4 to 5 o'clock, there's a pocket of moderate to maybe heavy rain. That's possible that's going to move quickly through. So by the evening hours things start tapering off and Monday morning, we might have a lingering shower or two. But aside from that, we're pretty much smooth sailing, aside from today's showers and Sunday showers, I have that yellow highlight just so that, you know, that Sunday looks to be a little bit messy, messy Sunday, but Saturday is beautiful. Ok. I guess we got to take what we can get, salvage a little bit of the, it's better than the teens.

And if you are gonna be on the roads this weekend, you're probably gonna be dealing with some wet weather big time. So if you're doing some traveling and then on the way back for that Sunday night, Sunday night commute could be a little bit of a doozy. But listen, enjoy Saturday. Saturday looks good. It's gonna be nice. It's gonna be mild. Temperatures are gonna be in the mid FF grant it, we're gonna work with a little more cloud cover than we will sunshine for your Saturday. I like it. I think you're gonna like it too. Certainly. When you think of Sunday's forecast right where we are gonna see some steady rain into the mix, 50 degrees. What we're looking at for today again, temperatures finally on the other side of average, we've kind of had a bit of a chilly week. Certainly. If you think back to midweek it was bitter bite with that cold air. Let's fast forward into our afternoon. We're gonna see those numbers into the mid to upper forties. We're gonna work with a few showers up north at first and then as we head to the commute home, 567 o'clock. We're dealing with some steady rain in the mix, but look what happens by around 910. We're drying out nicely while we could see some patchy fog develop for the early parts of your Saturday morning. Not all too bad numbers into the upper thirties, lower forties. Remember we're staying dry. We may see some pokes of sunshine, but just a reminder, it's gonna be mainly gray as we work our way through our Saturday. But look at some of these numbers 54 for Redding Newtown, 51 for Weston, 48 for Bridgeport. Even up north Torrington, Cornwall, Goshen, Washington Litchfield, we'll all see numbers into the lower fifties transition into Sunday. Sunday is not all too bad of a start gray. A lot of cloud cover, but numbers are into the forties. Not quite of a chilly start. If you maybe just walking the dog for the early part of Sunday morning, late morning into the afternoon, we're gonna see some steady rain pull in. It's a little bit different than a little bit of rain we'll get into for later on today, Sunday. We're work working with some heavy rain and some steady showers. Certainly as we push forward into the afternoon and evening. So again, that commute home, maybe from this weekend, heading into your Sunday night, it's gonna be a little bit of a doze. We do find those showers to kind of taper off by the time we head into our overnight to work into Monday as far as rainfall totals 1/10 to a quarter of an inch for your Friday later on today, nothing for Saturday. And then we're gonna add about another inch to the mix by the time we finish up our Sunday and again, working our way into our Monday, still holding on to mild temperatures in the lower fifties mark.
