Shirley Lopez, of Shelton, says her 3-year-old son Javi Lopez who has special needs will be getting the $10,000 custom wheelchair he requires to attend pre-K in January.
Shirley Lopez battled with her insurance company for a year and a half to pay for the custom wheelchair but couldn't succeed.
The mom says the donations to her son's GoFundMe campaign exceeded its goals after sharing her story on News 12.
The family says they now have more than enough money to buy the wheelchair.
The couple says they’ll use the extra money raised to help with other expenses relating to Javi’s care.
