Shelton police are warning residents after a stray kitten in the area recently died of rabies.
The infected kitten was delivered to a clinic on Sunday, and it died less than 24 hours later.
Experts say that rabies is a dangerous viral disease that is almost always fatal. They say that it is important for residents to contact animal control after coming into contact with a stray animal.
Shelton police say that they believe two other kittens were in the same area where the infected kitten was found.
They advise anyone who may have had contact with a stray cat or kitten in the area of Howe and Maple avenues to contact their doctor.
