A former "Sopranos" actor along with a co-defendant pleaded not guilty Monday to second-degree murder charges.

Former actor Lillo Brancato Jr. and Steven Armento are accused of killing off-duty NYPD officer Daniel Enchautegui on December 10 after he interrupted a burglary in the Bronx. Brancato and Armento were also arraigned on first-degree burglary and weapons possession charges. In addition, Armento, who is accused of being the triggerman, is charged with first-degree murder.

Members of the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association (PBA) spoke out after the arraignment saying that Brancato is just as guilty as Armento. PBA members are calling for a change in state law in order to legalize the death penalty. However, Brancato's mother insists her son is not a killer.

Brancato and Armento are being held at a medical facility where they are being treated for gunshot wounds incurred the day of the incident. Both are due back in court March 13.
