A man shot his girlfriend and her teenage son in a domestic violence incident in East Harlem on Thursday, according to sources.
Police say it happened around 12:30 p.m. Thursday inside of 165 East 112th St. Sources tell News 12 that a 45-year-old man showed up at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and shot her 19-year-old son when he opened the door. He then allegedly turned the gun on his ex-girlfriend.  According to the NYPD, the teen was shot in the torso and arm and the woman was shot in her thigh and the back of her ear.  They say the older male had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.  All three were taken to Harlem Hospital.  Stephanie McGraw is a domestic violence advocate and founder and CEO of WARM. She says incidents like this affect the larger community.
“What happens to her happens to me.  If I’m in this community, this is unity and community, when violence like this happens in the community, it not only affects the person the violence happens to, but it affects community as a whole because we are here in this community and dealing with this on the regular,” McGraw told News 12 New York.
Police say the teen and woman are in stable condition, but the 45-year-old man is critical.
