(07/13/06) GREENWICH ? Residents in Greenwich claim they saw a tornado during Wednesday?s severe weather, but weather experts want to investigate further.
One aspect of the wicked weather that?s not in dispute is the amount of destruction it left behind. High winds sheared off the tops of trees and toppled power lines, blocking roads and sending residents to their basements in the process. One resident says she witnessed a funnel cloud tear through an area along Riversville Road.
The damage inflicted by the storm was very direct in nature. Residents say all of the damage took place in a narrow path, and everything outside that path was virtuously untouched. The National Weather Service will be in Greenwich Thursday to probe the storm?s aftermath.
