The St. Joseph's Center assisted living facility in Trumbull was evacuated for the second time in less than three months on Friday evening.

The first evacuation, which happened overnight March 5 into March 6 was because the Connecticut State Department of Public Health found the bacteria that causes Legionnaire's Disease in the water there.

It was a different issue this time.

The Trumbull Fire Marshal's Office tells News 12 that they found failures in the building's fire life safety systems, which they say would hurt the building's ability to protect residents and staff in an emergency.

According to an email from the building to families, it is an issue with the smoke dampers.

"I'm kind of glad that is not Legionnaire's again - looks like they remediated that situation, so that's good," said TJ Meade, the father of one of the residents at the St. Joseph's Center.

The Fire Marshal says 107 total residents being relocated to different facilities - which is a little more than half the number who had to be evacuated back in March.

After that incident, the building was closed for almost three weeks.

"It's like two strikes now right, and almost back-to-back, so I don't know," said Meade. "I'm a little perplexed that this happened again, because I figured that they'd be on their best behavior."

In the email, the Saint Joseph's Center called this latest closure temporary.

Mead said if and when they reopen, he is going to try to convince his son not to come back.
