St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport says it has seen a number of days recently with no COVID-19 patients.
Last Thursday, the hospital was able to report that there were no COVID-19 patients. Dr. Steven Valassis says the hospital had one case this past Tuesday, but that was the only reported case.
Valassis says during the height of the pandemic, the hospital saw as many as 150 patients hospitalized for COVID-19. One-third of those were in the ICU.
He says part of the reason the hospital doesn't have new COVID-19 patients is due to the effectiveness of the vaccine.
He says the hospital will start offering the Pfizer vaccine to those age 12 and older soon.
Valassis says masks have also greatly helped us get to this point.
