If you haven’t watched “The Last Dance,” stop everything and go see it right now! Trust me, it’ll change your life ... well, listen it’ll at least provide some much needed quarantine inspiration.
“The Last Dance” is a 10-episode series by ESPN that follows the 1998 Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan on their championship run.
Spoiler alert...they win their sixth NBA championship, but there’s so much more to see. Cameras followed around the team the entire last season, deemed “The Last Dance” by head coach Phil Jackson as the Bulls dynasty wouldn’t be returning as whole for another season.
The series includes behind the scenes footage on bus rides, practices and locker rooms that, as the self-proclaimed world's biggest Jordan fan, I had never seen. Present day Michael Jordan's interviews guide viewers through reflections on big shots, big plays, conversations with teammates and opponents, and he remembers everything! It’s incredible to hear him break things down 22 years later.
I’ve been a Jordan fan since I can remember, it’s an essential part of my identity, and I even had a chance to go to Michael Jordan Flight School, his basketball camp in Santa Barbara, California. a few summers when I was younger. He even hand picked me to play “Around the World” with him not once BUT TWICE! They are memories I will never forget and I was able to relive them during “The Last Dance!”

In April, we were at the peak of the pandemic in New York City, and I felt like the gift of the series was Jordan saving us all, again.
It was awesome to share his drive and passion for the game with friends who called me out of the blue to discuss the series and our thoughts, some friends who had never watched him play and knew little about him seemed hooked on the wanting to be like Mike!
The worst part of the series was when it was over, it gave me something to look forward to each week - it was the first time during the pandemic everyone seemed rallied around sports again, and it was awesome.
Check it out and let me know your thoughts!
