According to court documents, Wayne Margarum, of Stamford, failed to pay taxes for his garbage removal services since 2004.
Officials say Margarum has owned the business for 40 years and services customers in the Stamford area and parts of Westchester County, New York.
Prior to sentencing, Margarum paid $25,000 in taxes owed. He still owes approximately $330,000 in back taxes, plus interest and penalties.
Margarum plead guilty to two counts of willful failure to file an income tax return.
He was sentenced to 18-months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release.
