Stamford Education Association files complaint against superintendent Lucero
The complaint alleges multiple violations of the state’s Code of Professional Responsibility.

The Stamford Education Association has filed a formal complaint with the Connecticut State Department of Education against Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero, alleging multiple violations of the state’s Code of Professional Responsibility.
The union is requesting a formal investigation into the following allegations.
· Failure to provide a safe and orderly learning environment
· Coercion and lack of transparency in the implementation of a new high school schedule
· Mishandling student discipline and false accusations
· Misuse of administrative position and potential conflicts of interest
Dr. Lucero announced last month that she plans to leave the district at the end of the upcoming school year to lead a school in Africa.
Officials with the Stamford Board of Education and Stamford Public Schools said they were unaware of the complaint until media reports surfaced Tuesday, despite the complaint reportedly being filed last week.
“I requested a copy of the SEA’s complaint earlier this afternoon and still await a reply,” Board of Education President Michael Hyman said in a statement. “I am extremely disappointed in Mr. Corcoran and the SEA executive leadership. The press release issued today by the SEA is a high watermark in unconscionable behavior. That Mr. Corcoran did not have the decency or courage to share with me a copy of a complaint submitted to the CSDE commissioner a week ago is indicative of a sad lack of professionalism.”
Stamford Public Schools also issued a statement expressing frustration over the lack of communication.
“We cannot comment on an alleged complaint we have not seen,” the district said. “To echo Mr. Hyman, it is disappointing that the SEA president did not have the professional courtesy to inform Dr. Lucero or a member of her senior leadership team—many of whom he speaks with on a regular basis—about a complaint allegedly filed with the Connecticut State Department of Education a week ago. District officials only learned of this matter earlier today when the SEA’s press release began circulating on social media.”
