A human services agency in Stamford has launched a new program to help vulnerable families overcome the pandemic.
Family Centers has been serving lower Fairfield County for 128 years.
They started raising funds to get to people who are in need the resources they need during the pandemic.
"We immediately got into action and started raising funds to get to people in need who were losing jobs, had no food in the house, needed access to any resources to keep the lights on, to pay their rent," initiative supervisor Frank O'Driscoll says.
In addition, they've opened two COVID-19 testing sites.
Family Centers recently launched a new program called Community Health Worker Initiative.
The agency works hand-in-hand with the Stamford Health Department's contact tracers to get those who test positive for the virus, groceries and more to get them through their isolation period.
They have helped 70 families in Stamford and plan to expand to neighboring communities.
