Some Stamford High School students will receive a free prom dress, suit, or tux just in time for prom season.
The "Cinderella Project" pairs teens with one-of-a-kind boutiques designed outfits like dresses, gowns, tuxedos, and accessories with teens in Stamford who otherwise might not be able to go to prom.
Social workers at Stamford High Schools identify teens who have strong financial need and make sure they all receive dresses at no charge as well as some money for prom tickets. Boys are also eligible for limited number of suits and tuxedos.
The Cinderella Project idea was born about 9 years ago, created by Holly Hyman, who continues to volunteer even after her kids graduated.
The boutique will donate any outfits left over from Thursday's event to Kids Helping Kids in Stamford.
