A Stamford man was charged in the 2020 fatal hit-and-run of a teenager in the city, police say.
John Reese, 33, was arrested Thursday and charged with misconduct with a motor vehicle, felony evading responsibility and violation of probation.
Police say Reese struck Michael Bajus, 19, after Bajus had already been hit by a separate vehicle while riding his bike on Nov. 6, 2020 on Harvard Avenue.
Investigators say Bajus was riding his bicycle when he was struck by a 2005 Cadillac and thrown off his bicycle onto the roadway.
They say Bajus stayed on the roadway, injured, until he was struck by a second vehicle, a 2006 Infiniti that was being driven by Reese.
Bajus was transported to the hospital where he later died.
Police say the impact caused by Reese inflicted life-threatening injuries on Bajus.
Police say Reese fled the scene without identifying himself, but that a witness told police his license plate number.
Police say they later found Reese but that he denied involvement in the incident and refused to cooperate with police.
He is being held on a $575,000 bond.
