Stamford woman fatally struck while crossing the street

Police say the woman was crossing High Ridge Road from the east side to the west side of the street when they were hit. They say there are no marked crosswalks in this section of the road.

A 54-year-old Stamford woman has died after being hit by a car in Stamford Saturday night, police say.

It happened near 966 High Ridge Rd. at 10:30 p.m.

A Nissan Altima was heading south when it struck the person crossing the road westbound.

Police say the woman was crossing High Ridge Road from the east side to the west side of the street when they were hit.

They say there are no marked crosswalks in this section of the road.

The woman was taken to Stamford Hospital with life-threatening injuries, but passed away Sunday morning.

She has not been identified.

The driver stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Anyone with might have witnessed the crash or has further information is asked to call police at 203-977-4712.
