Stamford police are investigating an incident of antisemitic hate at the Academy of Information Technology and Engineering High in the city.
Mayor Caroline Simmons and Stamford Public Schools released a statement saying in part: "Antisemitism, hate speech, bullying, or the dissemination of any symbols associated with hate are not tolerated in Stamford Public Schools and the City of Stamford. These incidents will continue to be investigated until the perpetrators are identified and held criminally liable for their actions."
Police say this is the fourth time in the last year they have found this type of hate on the school's grounds. They say they have surveillance video of the incident and are investigating whether this may be the same person, or persons involved.
"The high majority of people in our city, in our community are not antisemitic…this may be one or two people that are doing it,” said Rabbi Daniel Cohen, with Congregation Agudath Sholom. “That being said, we're living in a country right now where unfortunately there is rising antisemitism."
Lt. Jerry Junes said the police department is allocating “every resource to this investigation.”
Police ask anyone who may have information in this case to contact them.
