Stamford police are investigating an abduction attempt Wednesday involving a 13-year-old girl and a man in a green van.
Police say the teen slapped the driver of the van after it stopped her on Cove Road in the afternoon. According to investigators, the man then punched her before she ran away and contacted police. Cops cornered a green van for more than an hour in a donut shop parking lot on Elm Street, but officers say they eventually let the driver go after concluding it was not the vehicle involved in the incident.
Authorities are not commenting if they believe this incident to be related to a string of attempted abductions involving a green van in 2004.
