A lengthy investigation by the Stamford Police Major Crimes Unit has resulted in the arrest of one suspect in a shooting during a botched robbery.
Jose Montanez of Bridgeport is charged with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, first-degree conspiracy at robbery and criminal possession of a firearm.
Police say they responded to a driveway on Henry Street near Pacific Street after a man was shot in the stomach during a robbery on Feb. 9.
The victim was taken to the hospital and spent several days in the ICU. He's still recovering from his injuries.
Police say that following their investigation, Montanez was identified as one of three suspects. They believe the 37-year-old is the suspect responsible for the shooting.
Police obtained an arrest warrant for Montanez. On Tuesday, they located him not far from where the shooting took place. He was taken into custody with the help of the Special Response Team and Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit.
Montanez is being held on a $900,000 bond.
