More than 6,000 books will be distributed through the Stamford Public Education Foundation this summer to help students build their own libraries.
Children will be able to select new books to bring home and enjoy.
The organization is setting up 14 different locations throughout the city and hopes to support more than 3,000 students.
"We want to get kids really excited about reading and we want to give those kids who don't have the opportunity to have books in their homes – we want them to be able to have those books as well," said Lindsay Wyman, CEO of Stamford Public Education Foundation.
