Jonathan Jacobson was victorious Tuesday night, defeating state Rep. Anabel Figueroa in the Democratic primary for the 148th District to represent the City of Stamford.
The Associated Press called the race just an hour after the polls closed at 8 p.m. with Jacobson winning 319-191.
The win for Jacobson comes after a video surfaced of Figueroa referring to him using antisemitic rhetoric.

As the primaries kicked off in Connecticut Tuesday, drama stirred in Stamford after a video came to light in which Rep. Anabel Figueroa used antisemitic rhetoric when speaking about her opponent, Jonathan Jacobson, on YouTube.
News 12 Connecticut's Greg Thompson was able to speak with both candidates.
"We are being represented by different nationalities and ethnicities and I have nothing against any ethnicity, but what I am trying to do is gain more elected officials within the Hispanic community…by no means did I mean to inflict any kind of pain,” said Figueroa.
Jacobson, like the Stamford Democratic City Committee, said he believes she should not just step down her current position with the state House of Representatives, but also from her board seat with the DCC.
"Ultimately, we're all just trying to do the right thing here in town, and that's what i stand for…that's why it's so not just personally hurtful, but so disheartening to see the lengths and the degree some individuals are willing to go to retain their political influence,” said Jacobson.
Figueroa said she has no plans on stepping down, or dropping out of the race, saying she believes in democracy, and it's up to the voters to decide whether or not they accept her apology.
