Stanley Black & Decker has informed the Connecticut Department of Labor that 300 people will be without a job when its New Britain plant closes.

In a WARN Notice, the company said 287 people will lose their jobs beginning in May.

Three employees will be terminated between June 30 and July 14. Eight more will be fired between Aug. 30 and Sept. 13.

Two additional employees will be let go separately during the last two termination waves.

When the company announced the plant's closure, a spokesperson had said it was due to "structural decline in demand for single-sided tape measures."
