A 19-year-old Newtown man crashed his car through a guardrail in Southbury and careened down a hill Saturday on I-84 west, state police say.
They say he sustained fatal injuries. It happened at 11:55 p.m. east of Exit 15.
Police say Spencer Jorgenson veered off the road and struck the metal beam guardrail on the right shoulder. Jorgenson then continued through the guardrail and ended up in an embankment.
The highway was shut down for several hours but has since reopened.
