Connecticut State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at Bridgeport Correctional Center.

State police say it happened on Sunday.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled it a homicide.

The cause of death for the inmate was compression of neck, according to officials.

The inmate was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital from but later died from his injuries.
