Storm knocks out power to nearly 50,000 customers across Connecticut

Eversource is reporting more than 49,000 customers without power across the state, with the majority of the outages concentrated in the Hartford area.

A line of severe weather moved through Connecticut overnight, bringing down trees and power lines and leaving many residents without power.
Eversource is reporting more than 49,000 customers without power across the state, with the majority of the outages concentrated in the Hartford area.
In other areas, outages were more limited. Torrington reported 653 outages, while Greenwich had 64 and Westport saw just six.
United Illuminating reported 277 customers without power as of this morning, including 230 outages in New Haven and 14 in Trumbull. There were no reported outages in Fairfield or Bridgeport.
