New unit of police departments works to make roads safer
A new unit comprised of local police departments is working to make the roads safer.
“The Southern Fairfield County Traffic Unit” will consist of police departments from Fairfield, as well as Bridgeport, Stratford and Easton.
The goal is to enforce traffic safety and reduce the number of accidents.
“This unit allows us to work on education to instruct people to obey traffic laws and allows us to enforce those laws in those areas,” says Chief Gary Macnamara, with the Fairfield Police Department. “So you will see Bridgeport officers in Fairfield pulling cars over."
The new initiative will allow departments to share resources and train together as a unit.
