Domestic Violence Awareness vigil held at University of Bridgeport

Posted: Updated:
BRIDGEPORT -

Dozens of survivors were joined by friends and family Wednesday night at the University of Bridgeport to rally for the end of domestic violence.

The 10th annual Domestic Violence Awareness vigil was held by the Center of Family Justice to remember the victims who have died due to domestic violence.

Representatives from the Center of Family Justice say that in light of recent events surrounding the sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and the Me Too movement, more victims are coming forward.

They also say they've answered more than 1,000 calls in the past year.

A survivor of domestic violence runs group meetings at the center and says she shares her story in hopes it will inspire someone else to get help.

The Center for Family Justice offers services for free and is available at all times for anyone suffering from domestic violence.
