Williston Park homeowners are being advised to lock their doors and windows in the wake of a string of burglaries.
Village officials say there were four break-ins in the areas of Stratford and Cushing avenues over Memorial Day weekend. Residents who wrote on the Williston Park Civic Association Facebook page noted a few more burglaries taking place on other streets in recent days.
Mayor Paul Ehrbar says Nassau police are investigating and that both the county and village have stepped up patrols. He urges residents to be vigilant.
Neighbors like Susan Ober say the burglaries have been a wake-up call to make sure her doors are locked.
The village's neighborhood watch group will be holding a meeting about the break-ins this Saturday at 9 a.m. at Village Hall. Nassau police will be there to answer questions.
