More than 1,500 people attend Semper Five in Seaside Heights

The sixth-annual Semper Five kicked off in Seaside Heights Saturday, as people competed in a variety of categories for top prizes.
The Semper Five is a 5K that raises money for the Marine Raider Foundation. More than 1,500 people took part in the event.
The race is dedicated to Capt. Brian J. McNally – a Marine, state trooper, EMT and worked for the Morris Township Fire Department. McNally died in a car accident in May 2018.
The race started at the Beachcomber on Ocean Terrace and moved down the boardwalk.
Police presence was high at the event. Three years ago, a bomb went off near the race path.
Henry Notaro came in first place, with the best time of 17:42. Jessica Abbot, competing in the 11 to 13-year-old division, came in first place for the women with a time of 19:07.
News 12 New Jersey is a sponsor of the Semper Five. Kurt Siegelin was an emcee for the event.
