Authorities have identified the two men who were fatally shot in Newark Saturday as investigators search for the shooter.
The shooting happened on Mercer Street Saturday afternoon. Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II said in a press release that the victims have been identified as Jasson Duffy, age 30, and Hassan Ward, also 30.
A female was also injured in the shooting, but authorities are not releasing her identity at this time. They say she is hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
Investigators say Duffy and Ward were sitting outside when an unknown person approached them and opened fire. They were both killed. The female victim was apparently hit by a stray bullet.
Authorities say the investigation is active and ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC.
