Fairfield town officials will perform a traffic study to improve motorist and pedestrian safety along the Post Road's circle after receiving a $375,000 grant.

First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced Monday that thanks to a state grant, the town will perform a study to explore alternatives to improve safety for all users of the Post Road, and the Kings Highway Circle stretching from Shoreham Terrace to South Benson Road.

The traffic circle is known for its sharp curves, quick lane change, and heavy pedestrian foot traffic.

The study will focus on areas including near the McDonald’s, Stop & Shop and the Circle Diner.

Tetreau says the public is invited to attend a workshop on Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Penfield Pavillion at 7 p.m. to learn more.
